Pistachio ice cream is a versatile dessert that can be enjoyed on its own or paired with other flavors and toppings and it can be made in a Ninja Creami.

The Ninja Creami makes it easy to turn a simple frozen mixture into a smooth and creamy dessert. Pistachio pudding mix adds plenty of pistachio flavor while also helping create a thick, creamy texture. Add chopped pistachios for a little crunch and you have an easy homemade ice cream that tastes like a treat from your favorite ice cream shop.

Why You Will this Ninja Creami Pistachio Ice Cream

Using pistachio pudding mix is an easy shortcut for getting lots of pistachio flavor into homemade ice cream. It also helps thicken the base, which gives the Ninja Creami a creamy texture after processing.

The combination of whole milk and heavy cream creates a rich base without requiring eggs or a stovetop custard. Vanilla extract enhances the nutty pistachio flavor, while chopped pistachios add texture.

The best part is that you can prepare the pint ahead of time and keep it in the freezer. When you're ready for ice cream, simply process it in the Ninja Creami.

Ingredients Needed for Pistachio Ice Cream

    • 1 bottle of of vanilla OWYN protein shake - If you aren’t lactose intolerant like me use your favorite bottle of vanilla protein shake.
    • 3 tablespoons of Instant Pistachio pudding mix
    • 2 tablespoons of chopped pistachios (for garnish)
    • See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

How to Make Pistachio Ice Cream

Step 1 Pour the protein shake into a Ninja Creami Pint a long with the pistachio pudding and mix well to combine. You can use a hand held blender or just pop a lid on it and shake it for awhile.

Step 2 Set in freezer for 24 hours

Step 3 Press the Ice Cream option on the Ninja Creami blender and spin.

Step 4 While the ice cream is spinning, chop up the pistachios and set aside. Garnish the top of the cream when it’s ready.

Finished pistachio ice cream with chopped pistachios.

Pro Tips for Pistachio Ice Cream

Freeze the Creami pint on a level surface. This helps the mixture freeze evenly and makes processing easier.

Use instant pistachio pudding mix for the best results. The pudding mix adds both flavor and body to the ice cream.

If your ice cream looks crumbly after the first spin, don't worry. The Re-Spin function is often all you need to turn it into a smooth and creamy dessert.

For stronger pistachio flavor, add a little more chopped pistachios as a topping. You can also add a small amount of pistachio extract if you want an especially bold flavor.

For a fun presentation, top the finished ice cream with chopped pistachios and a dollop of whipped cream.

    Storage

Store the frozen Ninja Creami pint with its lid securely attached. The ice cream can be kept in the freezer until you are ready to enjoy it.

If you refreeze leftover processed ice cream, it will become firm again. Let the pint sit at room temperature for a few minutes before processing it again to bring back a creamy texture.

For the best quality, enjoy the ice cream within a few weeks.

    Serving Suggestions

Serve pistachio ice cream in a bowl or waffle cone topped with chopped pistachios. A drizzle of chocolate sauce is also delicious with the nutty pistachio flavor.

For a more decadent dessert, add whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. You can also mix in mini chocolate chips for a pistachio chocolate chip ice cream.

Crushed waffle cones, white chocolate chips, or a little caramel sauce make great toppings too. For an easy summer dessert, serve a scoop alongside fresh berries.
