Smoked Salmon Dip

Smoked Salmon Dip – this dip is made with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and fresh herbs like green onions and chives. The lemon gives the smoked salmon dip it’s freshness. Best served with a variety of crackers. The butter flavored ones we liked the best. 

I smoked my own salmon and that part was so easy. The salmon only took 1 hour to smoke.  The dip took less than 10 minutes to make.  If you want to learn how to make your own smoked salmon check out this recipe for Easy Smoked Salmon or just buy some at the store. Most deli counters have smoked salmon these days. 

What to serve with Smoked Salmon Dip?

Freshly toasted bagels – I loved the smoked salmon dip so much, I plan on making it again this week and spreading the dip on top of some everything bagels with cream cheese. What an awesome breakfast that will be? 

 Any type of gourmet crackers, chips, or toasted baguettes. 

Slice some cucumbers or any type of fresh vegetable. 

What Ingredients do I need for Easy Smoked Salmon Dip?

Cream Cheese  – can sub mayo or sour cream instead of cream cheese 

Smoked Salmon – many stores these days carry freshly smoked salmon at the deli counter or you can always smoke your own 

Capers  –  these are optional but give the smoked salmon dip a briny taste 

Green Onion  –use freshly chopped green onions 

Fresh Dill   – fresh dill is always best but dried dill can also be used 

Whipped Cream  – red, yellow, white onions. If you like a milder onion try shallots or green onions. 

Worcestershire sauce – for an unami flavor, sub soy sauce 

Hot pepper sauce – for heat and spice 

Lemon Pepper seasoning 

How to make Smoked Salmon Dip 

Process cream cheese in a food processor until completely smooth. Make sure it is at room temperature first. 

Add smoked salmon, capers, green onion, dill, cream, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, and lemon juice. Process the mixture again until creamy and smooth.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 6 ounces smoked salmon, chopped
  • 1/4 cup capers, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion (optional)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh dill
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 drops hot pepper sauce
  • 1 squeeze fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Process cream cheese in a food processor to soften completely; add salmon, capers, green onion, dill, cream, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, and lemon juice. Process the mixture again until creamy and smooth.
