This easy smoked salmon dip is creamy, smoky, and irresistibly spreadable—the kind of appetizer that disappears in minutes at any party.

Made with hot-smoked salmon, tangy Greek yogurt (or cream cheese), lemon, and fresh herbs, it’s quick to whip up but tastes like something from a gourmet seafood market. Whether you serve it with crackers, veggies, or as part of a brunch board, this dip brings serious flavor without the fuss.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

As someone who’s smoked a lot of salmon over the years (and found a dozen ways to repurpose the leftovers), I've used this recipe for Traeger Smoked Salmon plenty of times to make this dip.

I can tell you this dip is one of the easiest and most impressive things you can make with it.

This salmon dip is Ready in 10 minutes or less – Just mix and chill.

Backed by real recipe testing – My family loves this simple smoked salmon dip and they request it a lot. Especially during the Summer time for boat rides or for Appetizer night.

    Ingredients Needed

Ingredients Needed for Smoked Cream Cheese Dip.
    • Cream Cheese  - Cream cheese comes in blocks or in a container of whipped cream cheese these days. Both of those work. The whipped cream cheese has a better consistency and you don't have to use a food processor to smooth it out. No cream cheese? Try mayo or sour cream instead.
    • Smoked Salmon - many stores these days carry freshly smoked salmon at the deli counter or you can always smoke your own if you have the time.
    • Green Onion  - Use freshly chopped green onions
    • Fresh Dill   - fresh dill is always best but dried dill can also be used
    • Whipped Cream  - to help smooth the consistency out more. Milk can also be used.
    • Worcestershire sauce - For an umami flavor, sub soy sauce
    • Lemon Juice - The lemon gives the smoked salmon dip it's freshness. Best served with a variety of crackers. The butter-flavored ones we liked the best.
    • See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

    Substitution Tips

    • Swap Greek yogurt (which is zero points) with light cream cheese for a more classic texture.
    • Use fresh parsley or chives if you’re not a fan of dill. I'm personally a fan of dill!
    • Skip the mayo or use reduced-fat mayo to help with WW points—Greek yogurt alone is plenty creamy!
    • Use leftover homemade smoked salmon for a flavor upgrade.

How to make Smoked Salmon Dip

Step 1: In a bowl, mix together the whipped cream cheese and smoked salmon.

Smoked salmon ingredients all together in a bowl.

Step 2: Continue adding the green onion, dill, cream, Worcestershire sauce, and lemon juice. Mix until everything is well combined.

    Pro Tips for Smoked Salmon

    • Even 30 minutes in the fridge makes a huge difference in flavor. Overnight? Even better.
    • 🐟 Cold-smoked (lox-style) will be too soft and salty for this dip.
    • 🧅 Minced red onion adds crunch and punch—perfect if you're skipping capers.
    • 🥄 Double the batch if you’re entertaining—it disappears fast!
    • 🥯You can bake it at 375°F for 15 minutes for a warm, melty version with a bubbly top.
