Why You Will Like This Recipe

Pigs in a blanket are one of those recipes I grew up eating—and now I love putting a modern spin on them using the air fryer. As a food blogger who specializes in simple comfort food and air fryer recipes, I always look for shortcuts that don’t sacrifice taste. This one is a winner, every time.

I’ve tested this recipe with 2 Ingredient Dough (3 Ways!), Fat Head Pizza Crust for low carb, biscuit dough, even puff pastry.

I’ve served little smokies at parties and popped a few in the air fryer when I needed a quick dinner idea, and now you can serve them at parties as well! They always get rave reviews (and usually requests for seconds).

Ingredients for Air Fryer Pigs in a Blanket

    • 1 already prepared pizza dough crust - I used the Mama Cozzi pizza dough from Aldi
    • 12 mini sausages or cocktail franks: These are the star of the show, providing a juicy, savory bite.
    • 1 egg, beaten (optional): For an egg wash that gives the rolls a beautiful golden brown finish.
    • Everything Bagel Seasoning or Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional): Add a sprinkle on top for extra flavor and texture. Make your own bagel seasoning Trader Joe's Bagel Seasoning Recipe

How to Make Air Fryer Pigs in a Blanket

Step 1 Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C). This ensures even cooking and a perfect golden crust.

Cocktail weiners and pizza dough rolled up in a blanket.

Step 2 Prepare the pizza dough by unrolling it and separating it into individual balls of dough. Then wrap each mini sausage in a triangle of dough, starting at the wide end and rolling towards the point. Seal the edges by pressing the dough together gently.

Step 3 Place the wrapped sausages seam-side down in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each to allow even cooking. Cook in the air fryer for 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is golden and crispy. Check at the 5-minute mark to ensure even cooking.

Step 4 Remove from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, mustard, or honey mustard.

    Recipe Tips and Tricks

    • Brush the tops with beaten egg if desired, and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds for added flavor.
    • Instead of premade pizza dough make a batch of 2 Ingredient Dough (3 Ways!)
    • Try using different types of sausages or add a small slice of cheese inside before wrapping for a gooey surprise.
    • Make Ahead: Prepare the pigs in a blanket ahead of time and refrigerate them. Pop them in the air fryer just before serving for a fresh, hot snack.
    • Dipping Sauce Variety: Offer a selection of dipping sauces to cater to different tastes. Consider BBQ sauce, spicy mustard, or a creamy cheese dip like this Easy Smoked Queso (Tiktok Inspired).
