When you’re too lazy to make apple crisp, try making this recipe for baked apples!  All you do is slice the apples in half and core the seeds out, then top them with the crumb mixture and bake them in the oven. No chopping or dicing the apples at all and you can even make them in your air fryer instead of your oven. They can be made at any time of the year and not just during the Fall. It is the perfect recipe for only 1 or 2 people.

Healthy Baked Apples

Ingredients for Baked Apples

Apples  - use some good baking apples such as Honey Crisp, Fuji, or Gala

Margarine - To help lower the WW points for these apples. If you aren’t tracking butter or margarine works.

Oats - I like Old fashion for texture

Flour  - Whole wheat flour can be used instead of white flour. If gluten free, use a gluten-free flour.

Brown Sugar  - used for sweetness, can use your favorite sugar substitute for a replacement!

Cinnamon

How to make Baked Apples

  1. Cut apples in half and place in baking dish. Scoop out the seeds and remove the stem.
  2. Mix together the softened butter, oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, until everything is well incorporated.
  3. Fill: Place the apple halves in a greased baking dish. Evenly fill and top apple halves with the mixture oat mixture.
  4. Bake at 350 F/180 C until tops are golden brown and apples swell, about 30 minutes.
  5. Air Fryer: 350 for 15 minutes.
  6. Makes 4 servings, 1 apple half

How do you figure out points for recipes?

The recipe builder app from WW is what I use to figure out points for all my recipes. You have to pay the monthly fee in order to use it.

Why am I still getting different points from what you have listed?

This could be quite a number of reasons and here are a few that I have come across.

  • Number of servings
  • Low-Fat vs Fat-Free ingredients
  • Zero Point foods are different for all 3 plans
  • Using the nutrition info calculator instead of the recipe builder
