Frozen onion rings are simple to cook in your air fryer and they are so crispy on the outside and warm and soft in the middle. Skip the deep fat fryer and use your air fryer instead.

One food I’ve been loving lately is frozen onion rings in the air fryer. No oil needed to make these. If you don’t want to read the whole entire post please use the Skip to Recipe Feature at the top of the post.

If you're ever stuck in a rut for dinner sometimes appetizers are the way to go and that is what is so great about the air fryer. They cook any frozen appetizer so fast. Costco or Sam's have many great frozen appetizer selections. Have these onion rings with chicken taquitos, buffalo wings, spinach dip and chips, frozen mozzarella sticks, or even crab rangoons, etc. Let me know when dinner is so I can make it. 😉

    What Ingredients do I need?

Frozen Onion Rings - any brand will work with this recipe. This is not a recipe for homemade onion rings.

How to Cook Frozen Onion Rings in the Air Fryer

To print the full recipe please see the recipe card below.

If your air fryer requires preheating then preheat it. Some do not, some do.

Add the frozen onion rings  to the air fryer basket and close it.

Set the timer for 5 minutes and the temperature to 400.

Please note, all air fryers do not cook food the same so the time above might need to be adjusted to fit your air fryer.

    Tips for using Air Fryers

Preheating: Some air fryers require preheating and some do not. Be sure to check your air fryer manual. Mine does not require preheating. If the food ever burns or doesn’t cook properly this could be why the recipe didn’t work for you.

Overcrowding: Do not overcrowd the basket. Some food will not cook properly or all the way through.

Oil: One of the reasons why air fryers are so great is because food doesn’t need a lot of oil. Just a small amount!

Not every air fryer cooks food the same. I always check half ways to see if it is getting close to near done. If it isn't done, continue cooking longer.

    What air fryers are best?

I've had 3 or 4 different air fryers or the past 5 years and each one of them has worked very well with the air fryer recipes on this site. If you want to be able to cook more food for your family at once then get an air fryer with a large basket such as 5.3 quarts. Look for ones that say nonstick on them and has multiple program settings.

Power XL Air Fryer 5.3 Quart Basket. - This was my very first air fryer.

Our 5.3QT Power Air-Fryer comes in handy in preparing amazing meals from your cookbook, and frying a variety of dishes, such as: French fries, chicken, steak, roasts, fish tacos and sticks, waffle fries, pies, pudding and donuts.

Ninja Foodi Grill and Air Fryer - This air fryer works very well too but the air fryer setting doesn't go below 300 degrees. If there's a recipe that calls for lower temperatures you have to use the bake setting. It air frys, roasts, grills, and dehydrates food.

Cosori 4 Qt Air Fryer- This air fryer doesn't require any preheating and has several different functions for cooking chicken, meat, frozen foods, etc. There are 5 different functions.

GoWISE USA 1700-Watt 5.8-QT 8-in-1 Digital Air Fryer

Air fryer temperature settings vary according to brand and model. If your air fryer does not have the exact temperature setting called for in the recipe, consult your manual for suggested temperature settings.

Love your easy directions for your recipes. I have just been included in the air fryer family and can't wait to try some of these recipes. My air fryer though is included in the microwave too, plus baking.... (No baskets). So it's a 3 in one ( microwave, air fry, and bake machine). So everytime I read "drop food in baskets" I'm wondering if temp and time will be different. I know ...all recipes vary with different air fryers. Lol
Soooo here goes checking out and air frying your delicious recipes. Will check back soon!
Any advice would be appreciated !! Thank you
