Frozen onion rings are simple to cook in your air fryer and they are so crispy on the outside and warm and soft in the middle. Skip the deep fat fryer and use your air fryer instead.

Why You Will Love This Recipe

One food I’ve been loving lately is frozen onion rings in the air fryer. No oil needed to make these. If you don’t want to read the whole entire post please use the Skip to Recipe Feature at the top of the post.

If you're ever stuck in a rut for dinner sometimes appetizers are the way to go and that is what is so great about the air fryer. They cook any frozen appetizer so fast. Costco or Sam's have many great frozen appetizer selections. Have these onion rings with chicken taquitos, buffalo wings, spinach dip and chips, frozen mozzarella sticks, or even crab rangoons, etc. Let me know when dinner is so I can make it. 😉

The air fryer is one of my favorite kitchen appliances. Check out some of these recipes! Air Fryer Chocolate Cake, Air Fryer Pretzel Dogs, Air Fryer Lamb Chops with Garlic and Rosemary, and Air Fryer Toasted Ravioli.

    Ingredients Needed

Bag of Alexa Onion Rings ready for air fryer.
    • Frozen Onion Rings - any brand will work with this recipe. This is not a recipe for homemade onion rings.

See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

How to Cook Frozen Onion Rings in the Air Fryer

Note: If your air fryer requires preheating then preheat it. Some do not, some do.

Step 1: Add the frozen onion rings to the air fryer basket and close it.

Step 2: Set the timer for 10 minutes and the temperature to 400.

Please note, all air fryers do not cook food the same so the time above might need to be adjusted to fit your air fryer.

    Tips for using Air Fryers

The air fryer is so great for cooking simple basic food like air fryer steak, air fryer hard-boiled eggs, and air fryer bacon. Cook up some air fryer chicken breasts for the week and use it chicken quesadillas.

Overcrowding: Do not overcrowd the basket. Place items in a single layer in the air fryer basket or some food will not cook properly or all the way through.

Use a spray oil such as Pam to get food extra crispy and to save on calories.

Use parchment paper on the bottom of your air fryer for easy clean up.

    Serving Suggestions for Onion Rings

Frozen onion rings are best served with any kind of hotdog like Grilled Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog or Blackstone Smashed Cheeseburgers. While this stuff is cooking on a grill the onion rings can be made quick in an air fryer.

Onion rings also go well with Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets or a nice Air Fryer Steak.

    Recipe FAQs

How long do you cook frozen onion rings in air fryer?

Frozen onion rings are best air fried at a temp of 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Spray with cooking spray or pam for extra crispiness.

Can Alexia onion rings be cooked in the air fryer?

Yes, any brand including Alexia onion rings can be cooked in the air fryer using this time and temperature.

Are onion rings better in an air fryer or deep fryer?

The best frozen onion rings are cooked in an air fryer, hands down. Deep fryers are full of fat and added calories.

What air fryer do I have?

I have two air fryers. The Cosori 4 Qt Air Fryer and Ninja Woodfire Grill which is an outdoor air fryer. It’s pretty awesome! It has 5 different functions on it.

Love your easy directions for your recipes. I have just been included in the air fryer family and can't wait to try some of these recipes. My air fryer though is included in the microwave too, plus baking.... (No baskets). So it's a 3 in one ( microwave, air fry, and bake machine). So everytime I read "drop food in baskets" I'm wondering if temp and time will be different. I know ...all recipes vary with different air fryers. Lol
Soooo here goes checking out and air frying your delicious recipes. Will check back soon!
Any advice would be appreciated !! Thank you
