Grilled bananas topped with chocolate are a delicious dessert that combines the sweetness of ripe bananas with the richness of melted chocolate. The bananas are grilled until caramelized, which gives them a slightly smoky flavor that pairs perfectly with the creamy chocolate.
This dessert is a quick and easy way to satisfy your sweet tooth, and it's perfect for a summer barbecue or a cozy night in.

There's just something about warm bananas with melted chocolate on top. When you toast the marshmallows in the grill, this dessert almost reminds me of S'mores.
Ingredients Needed
Bananas - Must be unpeeled and ripe bananas. The softer they are the better!
Chocolate chips - These can be dark, semi-sweet, or milk chocolate. Mini chocolate works better cause they fit into the banana slit better.
Miniature marshmallows - Do not use the jumbo marshmallows with these!
See recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Tips for Grilled Banana Boats
If you are making these banana boats on the grill use aluminum foil and wrap the sides of the banana boats up so they are easier to handle and get off the grill. Cook the banana boats on a grill grate if your fire is hot.
To tell if the banana boats are ready to eat, the bananas will be soft and not firm.
Do not cut all the way down the banana. Make sure there is at least a quarter-inch space so that the bananas can sit on a flat surface as they cook.
Recipe FAQs
Cooked banana on a grill tastes warm and just like it tastes eatng a room-temperature banana. It's just a little warmer. It's soft and gooey.
Yes bananas are rich in potassium and good for heart health. However, I wouldn't eat it covered in chocolate and marshmallows every day. This is just a sweet Summer treat to enjoy every once in and while.
How do I store leftovers?
Always store leftovers in clean, food-grade containers. The type of container doesn’t really matter. Use zip lock, glass, plastic, whatever! Make sure to store any leftovers in an airtight container before putting it in the freezer or fridge.
