❤️ Why You Will Like This Recipe

As someone who has tested just about every air fryer recipe under the sun, like this Air Fryer Steak (Medium Rare) I can confidently say: this one's a winner! Air frying steak keeps it juicy without all the extra oil, and the peppers come out tender-crisp—just like your favorite restaurant-style fajitas. Plus, cleanup is a breeze!

Whether you're tracking points on Weight Watchers or just want a balanced, protein-packed meal, this recipe checks all the boxes: lean beef, fresh veggies, bold flavor, and quick cooking time.

Ingredients needed for Air Fryer Steak Fajitas

    • 2 grass-fed ribeye steaks or skirt steak - Thinly sliced against the grain for tenderness
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 packet of taco seasoning or fajita seasoning - can make your own or use store bought
    • 1 red bell pepper, sliced thin (make sure the vegetables are about even in size)
    • 1 green bell pepper, sliced thin
    • 1 yellow onion, sliced thin
    • Tortillas (flour or corn)
    • Optional toppings: sour cream, guacamole, salsa, shredded cheese, or cilantro

    Substitution Tips

    • Swap steak for chicken, tofu, or portobello mushrooms if you're cutting red meat or want a plant-based option.
    • No olive oil? Use avocado oil spray for a lighter touch.
    • Add sliced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne if you like heat.
    • Serve in low-carb tortillas like the Mission Style Street Taco brand, lettuce wraps, or over cauliflower rice for a WW-friendly twist.
    • If you don't have an air fryer you can do these fajitas on Steak on Blackstone Griddle (How To) or on a grill - How to Grill Top Sirloin Steak.

How to Make Air Fryer Steak Fajitas

Step 1 Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3-5 minutes. Place some parchment paper down in the air fryer basket.

Step 2 Slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips. Toss the vegetables with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated. You can also do all this inside the air fryer basket.

Step 3 Add the sliced vegetables to the air fryer basket with the steak. Continue cooking for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the steak is cooked to your desired level of doneness and the vegetables are tender-crisp.

Step 4 Place the steak in the air fryer basket in an even layer on top of the vegetables. Cook for approximately 6-8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Once cooked, remove the steak and vegetables from the air fryer.

    Recipe Tips

    • Serve the fajitas immediately while they are hot and enjoy the burst of flavors!
    • While the steak and vegetables are cooking, warm your tortillas. You can do this in a microwave, on a skillet, or directly over a gas flame for a nice char.
    • Fill each tortilla with a portion of steak and vegetables.
    • Add optional toppings such as sour cream, guacamole, salsa, shredded cheese, or fresh cilantro if desired.

What to Serve with Steak Fajitas

Steak fajitas are a delightful and flavorful dish on their own, but pairing them with the right sides can elevate your meal to the next level. Here are some delicious options to complement your steak fajitas:

Air Fryer Tortilla Chips (Low Carb) Nothing beats a classic combo of crispy tortilla chips and fresh salsa. Consider offering a variety of salsas, such as pico de gallo, mango salsa, or roasted tomato salsa, to appeal to different tastes.

The Best Damn Guacamole Ever Creamy, zesty guacamole is always a crowd-pleaser. Its rich texture and tangy flavor pair well with the spices in the fajitas.

Smoked Queso A warm, cheesy queso dip with jalapeños or chorizo can be a deliciously indulgent side that complements the savory steak.
