Why You Will Love This Recipe
I looked everywhere for this cake mix from Duncan Hines and couldn't find it anywhere so I just decided to make my own chocolate cake. This recipe was shared back in 2018 and that company probably no longer makes the single-serving cakes.
I love learning new tricks and tips in my air fryer and this one is definitely a keeper.
Ingredients Needed
- All-purpose flour is a versatile type of flour that is commonly used in baking. It is made from a blend of hard and soft wheat and has a moderate protein content.
- Granulated sugar also known as white sugar, is a common type of sugar used in baking and cooking. It is made from sugarcane or sugar beets and is refined to remove impurities.
- Baking powder is a leavening agent commonly used in baking. It is a mixture of baking soda, cream of tartar, and sometimes cornstarch.
- Milk - Dairy does not like me at all so I go for a lactose free milk such as Fairlife. It also has more protein in it.
- Egg - Always use large eggs.
- Vegetable oil - Melted butter can also be used.
- Vanilla extract - It is made by macerating and soaking vanilla beans in a mixture of water and Vodka. Use a good pure vanilla instead of the imitation vanilla extract.
- Pinch of salt
- Cooking spray - to oil the ramekin

How to Make Chocolate Cake in the Air Fryer
Step 1: In a microwave-safe mug, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Step 2: Add the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract to the mug and stir until everything is well combined.
Step 3: Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and preheat the air fryer to 320°F
Step 4: Pour the cake batter into the mug or ramekin, filling it about ¾ of the way full. Place the mug in the air fryer basket and air fry for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Let the cake cool for a few minutes before enjoying it straight from the mug or removing it from the mug and serving it on a plate.
Best AIr Frying Tips
The air fryer is so great for cooking simple basic food like air fryer steak, air fryer hard-boiled eggs, and air fryer bacon. Cook up some air fryer chicken breasts for the week and use it chicken quesadillas.
Some air fryers require preheating and some do not. Be sure to check your air fryer manual.
Overcrowding: Do not overcrowd the basket. Place items in a single layer in the air fryer basket or some food will not cook properly or all the way through.

Oh, my cake lovin' soul loves this! There is not much of anything tastier than chocolate cake, right? The more I hear about air fryers, the more I need to get one. They sound so handy to have in the kitchen. I've loved my Instant Pot, so now I need to get an air fryer! Thanks for sharing this yummy dessert, made even healthier with yogurt.
