Cheesy chicken green bean bake is a delicious and easy dinner option that is perfect for busy weeknights. This dish is made with chicken breast, green beans, and a creamy cheese sauce that is sure to satisfy your taste buds.

Finished chicken green bean casserole topped with melted cheese.

I know I've posted this recipe before, but this is an upgrade to one of my most favorite recipes ever! Chicken Cheese Hotdish!

My Dad has this hot dish that my whole family loves. It has chicken, green beans, cheese, and rice in it. It takes a while to prepare because you have to brown the chicken and boil the rice, then bake it in the oven for 30 minutes.

I was watching one of those videos on Tasty's facebook page the other day ago, and they had this recipe called Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Bake. The video showed everything including the rice being cooked in one dish. How brilliant! I can use that idea to make my Dad's casserole dish and sure enough, it worked! It was still the same creamy cheesy casserole that everyone loves and I saved a couple of dishes and steps doing it that way. I'll be using that method from now on.

    Ingredients Needed

Ingredients needed for chicken green bean bake.
    • Chicken breasts - They’re lean and quick-cooking and always come out juicy and tender. Use an instant-read thermometer to make sure that the chicken is not over cooked.  When reading labels for chicken breasts try to find ones that say Organic or Free Range.
    • White instant rice or brown instant rice - I've tested this recipe with other types of whole grain rice and it takes longer to bake in the oven. Not sure what the time would be for cauliflower rice.
    • Onion powder is dehydrated, ground onion that is commonly used as a seasoning. Some people do not like the taste of freshly chopped onion so onion powder is a great substitute if you have a picky eater like that in your h
    • Cream of chicken - Condensed chicken soup is a highly concentrated form of chicken soup that has had most of its water removed.
    • Low-fat cheddar cheese or colby jack cheese , shredded
    • French-style green beans, drained
    • Chicken broth - The best type of chicken stock to use is one that is homemade. For canned stock, I look for ones that say reduced sodium or fat free.
    • Extra cheddar cheese for topping
    • See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

I had the same issue as above. I baked for 50 minutes + 5 uncovered and chicken is still pink and not up to temp. I have it in oven now on 5 min increments on 400 degrees…

Sorry for the confusion. I had to go log into my ww app and see what I had. Turns out there was some weird item for green beans that was 13 points causing the recipe to get 8. It is 4 on blue. I also updated the post since it hasn't been updated since 2016.

Is this dish 5 WW points blue plan or is it 8? It says two different points? When I put it in to the recipe builder on WW and made sure the serving is for 8, I am only getting 4 points a serving...

I have not tried this dish with wild rice but you can definitely brown the chicken first in a skillet if you desire.

Has anybody ever browned the chicken first and used wild rice? Thanks!

The number of servings is correct. I see what I did there though. In the app I had used low fat colby jack cheese instead of regular full fat cheddar. I updated my post.

I think you meant feeds 12 people so is its 12 servings if you are doing 1/2 cup each serving . Not serving 8 . Your math is way off.

I have made this recipe several times, and it’s a family favorite. However, I was wondering if anyone has ever froze this recipe?

My picky teens loved this too. I used instant brown rice, 75% fat free cheese (Cabots) b/c my husband has a Pancreas disorder and cannot digest fats. This was so easy and delish! Thank you for sharing!

I cooked this for the 50 minutes, and then had to up the temperature- my chicken was still pink when I took the foil off! Increased the temp to 400 and had to cook for another 30 minutes!!!! I put it in an 8x8 dish. Would have been helpful to have the dish size in the actual recipe and not the comments. Needless to say the kids had McDonald’s. Not happy.
