Banana Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

The base of this ice cream is only 2 ingredients! Cocoa powder and frozen bananas. To make it incredibly sinful I added some chocolate chips and peanut butter drizzle on top.

You will need a food processor or blender to make this ice cream. Freeze the bananas for a couple of hours. Take them out, and place the bananas in a food processor with some cocoa powder. Blend the bananas and cocoa powder until smooth and fold in some chocolate chips. You can choose to serve the ice cream at this point, but you can freeze the ice cream too. I had to let mine set out for a bit after freezing the banana ice cream to get it back to it’s normal consistency.

For those of you confused by the images, there is one taken with the peanut butter mixed in and the one below has cocoa powder. Both get the same results which is delicious ice cream! 😉

What Ingredients do I need for Banana Ice Cream?

In this section, you can find substitutes or suggestions for certain check here

Bananas – 4 very large or medium sized ripe bananas, sliced and frozen

Cocoa Powder or Peanut Butter – both work great for add-ins, just do whatever you feel like having that day you make it.

If you’re following a Weight Watcher program use Powdered Peanut Butter or PB2 instead of regular peanut butter for less points.

To make the peanut butter drizzle, take one to two tablespoons of creamy peanut butter and melt it in the microwave for 30 seconds or until the peanut butter becomes a smooth consistency. Drizzle the peanut butter on top of the banana ice cream and serve immediately! Enjoy!

Chocolate Chips – regular chocolate chips are always best, but sugar-free chocolate chips are fine if you need to use them.

According to WW themselves, sorbet and banana ice cream is still zero points. Want to know why? Find out reading this article. Basic 0 Points Banana Ice Cream.

Smoothies or juice you’re drinking will not promote the same amount of fullness between meals as eating fruit might. Whereas here when you are eating the ice cream with a spoon, you are experiencing the act of eating, and are less likely to over-indulge. – From WW Canada site.

Surely you don’t really mean to microwave the peanut butter for 30 minutes. I’ll try 30 seconds. The recipe sounds yummy, simple, and satisfying.
