Have you ever ordered any meal delivery food kits before? I order Hello Fresh every other 2 weeks and I recently fell in love with one of their Surf and Turf meals. It had shrimp, homemade mashed potatoes, green beans, and steak. The shrimp were marinated in this butter with paprika, chives, garlic, and butter. I’m pretty sure that is almost the exact same shrimp recipe that Outback Steak House uses.
One of the reasons meal delivery services are so great is because they are delivered to your door and you can pick how frequently you want it delivered. When I was making that meal, I knew that the steak and shrimp could be cooked in the air fryer so I came up with a way to do that. Cooking steak can be a really daunting task for some people and I know I even struggle with cooking steak in a pan or on the grill. Always tend to undercook it but when I use an air fryer it is really easy for me.
How to make Air Fryer Surf and Turf
Let the steak come to room temperature. Season with salt and pepper on both sides. Add the steak to your air fryer basket.
Close the air fryer basket and set the temperature to 400 for 10 minutes. Flip half-way through.
Take the steak out and let it rest on a plate.
Season the shrimp with salt and pepper. Place the shrimp in the air fryer basket and continue cooking for 4 minutes.
When the shrimp is cooking make the butter. Add softened butter, paprika, and garlic to a bowl, stir. Melt the butter in the microwave and drizzle over the shrimp and steak.
Some air fryers let out steam or smoke and you can prevent that by adding some water in the bottom of your air fryer basket.
What to serve with steak and shrimp?
Like I mentioned above, my meal kit came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Use your favorite type of green beans and cook them to your liking along with the potatoes. Instead of mashed potatoes make cook some potato wedges in your air fryer with your meal.
Keep this meal completely Keto or Low Carb and heat up some cauliflower mash!
