Hey and welcome! In case you're new here my name is Jenna and I make easy and lightened up recipes for your Air Fryer or Instant Pot like these crispy crab rangoons! I also will try to include Weight Watcher points as I see fit.

    Air Fryer Crab Rangoons

    Folding Rangoons

Getting the exact star shape rangoons are known for looks daunting but it really isn’t! In fact, I went straight to youtube to see how it was done and watched a few videos. I’m a visual person and like to see things being made first before attempting to read instructions. That is why I include videos for my recipes sometimes.  Chef John on youtube (his channel is Food Wishes) he does a good job of demonstrating how it was done and he made it look so easy.

Do not overstuff the crab mixture in the middle. Use your fingers to wet the edges of the wonton wrappers. This helps the wonton wrappers stick.

Bring in the opposite corners of the wonton wrappers towards each other but don’t close them yet.

Fold the other 2 corners from the bottom up and close the wonton up.

    Crab Mixture

Typical crab rangoon mixture is cream cheese and lump crab meat with a few seasonings like Worcestershire sauce and green onions. To lighten the crab rangoon mixture up a bit I used equal parts Greek yogurt and reduced-fat cream cheese. Make sure the cream cheese is softened a bit before attempting to stir all the other ingredients in.

Fresh crab is always great if you can afford it and it’s readily available. Canned crab is also fine as well. Just make sure to drain the crab well because there’s a lot of water in the can. Pat the crab meat dry with a paper towel first. Excess liquid will make the cream cheese mixture very watery.

How to make Air Fryer Crab Rangoons

Filling: Mix together cream cheese,  yogurt, crab meat, scallions, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic together in a medium bowl. Set aside.

In a small dish whisk the egg.

Take one wonton wrapper and use your fingers to coat the egg wash around the edges of the wonton wrapper.

Place 2 teaspoons of the crab mixture into the center of the wonton.

Bring 2 opposite sides of the wonton wrapper up and push them against the crab mixture but not all the way yet. Fold the other two sides up and crimp the edges together so that the wonton wrapper is sealed shut.

Place the crab Rangoon’s in your air fryer basket in a single layer and air fry at 350 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes.

Hey Jenna, this looks delicious. We make samosa with similar recipe in my country. We use veggies instead of meat. I'm gonna try this and come back to comment on how it turned.

Thank you for sharing! Much Love 🙂
